So I've just returned from a 2.5 week trip for work that was just so exhausting! I spent the  past weekend lounging, ignoring the sunshine, and catching up on Mad Men. So now I'm all ready to craft again, but I need some help!

A few months ago my company switched from blackberries to iPhones, and I got all excited because of these cases. A diy cross stitch case for your iPhone! But once it came time to actually purchase one, I couldn't decide what I wanted to put on there ( I mean, that's a big decision!) so I never ended up purchasing one. Then I came upon this blog, and was happy I never went ahead with it. There are some problems, mainly that the stitches are left open and can easily rip etc. But, using a clear case - I could make one for myself!

But, now comes the hard part - again - what do I put on there!?! I have some criteria: I want it to be slightly nerdy, and also pretty easy - since I've never done this before. It also has to be able to fit on my phone (either my iPhone or Galaxy Nexus). So here are some ideas I've found and liked: What do you think??

I would probably only do the heart design.

I would probably only do Ang (the center character).

I'm heavily leaning towards the tetris heart, as it's cute, colorful, simple and geeky! But I'm not sure if I can make the size small enough to fit on my phone !

I could go all Portlandia and just "put a bird on it" - that's geeky right?

Although the gnome is pretty cute as well!

As always, I'm in the middle of about 2-3 different projects. Most of them are 90% done - but not good enough to post just yet. I probably won't be getting to them any time soon - so here is a random post of some tasty liquor!

I just found out about this awesome liquor called Root by Art in the Age. According to the website, Native Americans shared the recipe for "Root Tea" which included ingredients such as sassafrass, birch, and sarsparilla (sound familiar?). Over time, its alcohol content grew - but by the 1800s one guy decided to take out the alcohol and sell it ironically as Root Beer. This company has now gone back to its roots (pun intended) to the original recipe. The resulting spirit is not root beer flavored alchohol, but alcohol that tastes like root beer!

When I found out about this, I immediately called all the local liquor stores hunting for it. For our first drink, we made a Root Rasberry Lemonade - which was pretty good. The alcohol tastes exactly like root beer - which is amazing! The mixed drink was alright - the lemonade or raspberry flavor was overpowered by the Root - but it wasn't too much of a problem.

I encourage you to check out the website and see if you can find it at a liquor store near you.  It is sold online, but Massachusetts has some pretty archaic liquor laws - one being no getting liquor by mail. They apparently just came out with a new spirit called Rhuby - made from rhubarbs! I can't find it any where just yet, but hopefully it will come soon. I have seen Snap in the area - but I think Rhuby will be PERFECT for the summer!

The website also has neat little history videos for each of their spirits  - check out the one for Root here:

My days have been pretty much the following:

5:30 AM - Wake Up
Gym
Work
Home - get dinner ready
Done by 8pm - too exhausted to do anything but veg in front of the TV
Asleep by 10pm

I'm a winner - really!! So my crafting has been pretty minimal. And at least so far - my crafting has not been going so well.

While cleaning out my closet and finding things to donate/throw away I found 3 pairs of flats that were pretty blah. I was more than OK tossing them out - but figured I'd give a try at updating their style. For a bout a year I have been searching and searching for some orange patent leather flats, with no luck (at least not in my size) - so I figured why not spray paint them? Nope. The picture below is after about 3 tries, almost emptying the can, and painting my front lawn a lovely orange! I also tried to make a color blocking flat with yellow and black. This time I used acrylic paint. The paint went on well, but I wasn't a fan of how it came out. I think I made the toe too large!

But I was able to organize my shoes!!

I had one success story with my mini-crafting adventures. I made a stuffed felt peep for my niece! I won't be around on Easter to give it to here, but I hope she likes it - green is her favorite color!
